So finally, my dream of starting a photography blog has kicked off!
I have been reading blogs (primarily photography based blogs) for almost three years now. I believe that of all the knowledge that I’ve gained over the past few years about photography, ninety percent has come from the internet. Internet today has information available on every possible topic under the sun! And photography-specific blogs have helped me a lot!
Ok. I know I am going off topic now, but I would like to share how my photography-journey started. I still remember that when I was about five years old, my father had this Yashica film SLR camera which he had bought from a photographer during college days who was selling his old gear. I will have to admit- neither he himself, nor anybody else in the family could learn to use that camera completely. All that we could do was focus and take photographs! But that camera was instrumental in directing my attention towards photography. As a child, I always used to hold it in my hands and used to wonder what were SO MANY controls on the camera for! (Trust me, there were about 3-4 levers more on that camera than there are on a present day SLR)
Then, since the camera became useless in the digital era, it was handed over to my uncle (he expressed the desire of trying his hands on it) and then to my cousin (because even my uncle couldn’t figure out anything and returned it to us) and I don’t know whether the camera is presently in a working condition or not!
Fast forwarding >> In May 2009, after I had completed my schooling and was back at home after spending a year at Kota, Rajasthan (I was there to prepare for engineering entrance exams), I had plenty, PLENTY of time with nothing else to do. It was then that I decided to read about my long-unattended-passion for photography.
So, where was I supposed to go?
Yes, this is something which I feel is solely responsible for everything I know today. I don’t know whether I have advanced to the ‘amateur’ category from the ‘beginner’ or not, but whatever I have learnt, has come from lots of googling! Also, I would like to thank all those people who share so much of knowledge online for free (I will write about them in other posts)
Ok. So first post. Has to be short (but isn’t). I will try to come up with new posts as frequently as possible. But I am not sure about the frequency as I am a student (and will be working- starting June/July 2013) and I have quite a lot of other things to do as well! Also, I am sure you will keep finding mistakes in my usage of the English language. Sincere request –
And, ‘tvphotoarts’– the name is self-explanatory I suppose. The initials for my name (Tarun Vaish) are ‘tv’. The words photo and arts are inter-related (yes, they are inter-related for me) and don’t need an explanation!
Thanks. And Happy reading!
PS: Below are two images that I took with compact point and shoot cameras. These are, and will always remain my favourite images!
